Grand Challenges in Medical Image Analysis
Welcome to the web site for grand challenges in medical image analysis. Every year, thousands of papers are published that describe new algorithms to be applied to medical images. But very few provide a fair and direct comparison of the newly proposed algorithm with the state of the art. We believe that such comparisons can help to substantially improve the performance of medical image analysis algorithms. We support the organization of these events and the dissemination of their results.
At MICCAI 2010, the fourth edition of the Grand Challenge workshop will be held. The MICCAI 2010 Workshop page describes the workshop and the three challenges for this year: registration of chest CT scans, segmentation of knee cartilage in MR images and segmentation of head and neck structures in CT for radiotherapy planning.
Why Challenges? describes the rationale for organizing these events, provides advice for those who want to organize challenges and discusses where we may move to next.
We provide an overview of All Challenges on this site.
Grand challenges in medical image analysis would not be possible without the support and enthusiasm from all contributors.
